NASA Arizona will operate under the NASA National rules (i.e. CCRs) published here with the following exceptions noted below.
Exceptions to CCRs:
- Section 9 & 10 (Instructors): These sections do not apply. Please contact John Dowling directly for additional details for becoming an Instructor for NASA Arizona
- Section 11 (Tech Inspection): NASA Arizona does not currently utilize offsite tech inspections. All tech inspections are done at the track and are free of charge. We do ask that all participants print off and fill out a tech sheet prior to arriving to the event. Tech sheets can be downloaded here.
- Section 16.1 (Competition Vehicle Logbook): Time Trial vehicles may be issued a “Vehicle Logbook”
- Section 17.1 (Impound): ALL vehicles will report to impound after each race
- Section 21.5 (Official Results): Competitors have until the “following weekend” or within 24 hours of the results being posted on Mylaps (whichever comes 1st) to dispute the accuracy of any results
- Section 22.1 (Season Points Eligibility): The default points system will be used but to be eligible for a season end award, however the competitor must attend at least 50% or more of the races in the same class. NOTE: Any/All disqualifications (DQ/DSQ) will not count as a race attended.
- Section 22.2 & 22.2.1 (Drop Scores): NASA Arizona will allow “3″ drops for Time Trial and all Race Groups. No drops for Time Attack. Additionally, any/all disqualifications (DQ/DSQ) may NOT be dropped.
- Section 27.12.1 (Point Limit - Annual): The points system outlined in this section will not be used. Instead we will operate under these guidelines –> http://forums.nasaaz.com/showthread.php?t=4473
NASA Arizona Specific Rules:
- Staying “on track”: The intended “racing surface” shall be defined as the painted “white line”. In the event there is no “white line” or it is too faded to see, the racing surface shall be defined as the “apex curbs”. Failure to maintain at least 1 wheel on the intended “racing surface” may result in penalites regardless if a perceived advantage is gained or not.
- Race Group Body Contact: Body Contact form MUST be turned in by all parties for any damage caused during any NASA Arizona event. Failure to do so will result in an automatic disqualification from the race results.
- Dyno Testing: For classes that require a “dynojet” test. The rules indicated that a Dynojet Model # 248 or 224 may be used for official classing. However, 2WD compliance testing for all Arizona based events will be performed at “AZ Dyno Chip” (http://www.arizonadynochip.com) or “Xtreme Motorsports” (http://www.xmsengineering.com). AWD vehicles will be compliance tested at “UMS Tuning” (http://www.umstuning.com). Competitors are highly encouraged to have their vehicles tested at one of these locations to ensure classing compliance.
Exceptions to Time Trial Rules
- Passengers are not allowed without TT Director approval. If a passenger is allowed during any TT session, the competitor/car will be DQ’d for that specific session and times will not count.
- All sessions count towards official lap times unless otherwise stated by either of the TT Directors (i.e. the official rules state the 1st session does not count unless otherwise stated)
Classing
- NASA legal “944 Spec” legal race cars may also run in “PTD” or “TTD” w/o a classing sheet
- SCCA “Spec RX7″ legal race cars may run in NASA “PTF” or “TTF” w/o a classing sheet
- SCCA “Pro RX7″ legal race cars may run in NASA “PTE” or “TTE” w/o a classing sheet
Exceptions to Enduro Rules
- Section 2.3 (Car Numbers): Three digit numbers are allowed
- Section 2.7 (Entry fees): See registration page for entry fee. The car that will be driven must pay for “Race” registration fee in addition to the “Enduro” fee. Co-drivers sharing a car already registered will only need to pay the “Enduro” entry fee.
- Section 3.3.1, 4.1, 4.2 & 4.3 (Car classification): ES, ESR and E0-E3 will not be used. NASA Arizona will continue to use PT classing or “944 Spec” for all cars. Contact Paul Bloomberg (pjbloom1@gmail.com) if there are any issues regarding classification. Any other class specific references will map as follows - “ES & ESR” = “ST2, ST1, SU” / “E0-E3″ = “PTF-PTA”
- Section 8.2.3 (Refueling for “less than 6 hours) NOTE: “ES & ESR” = “ST2, ST1 or SU”
- Section 8.3 (Pit Speed Limit): The start and end of the “pit” will be defined at the Race Group Meeting on the day of the event. Also note that the 25MPH speed limit will be strictly enforced and penalties for exceeding the speed limit could result in harsh penalties.
NOTE: All (co)drivers and drivers will receive equal points regardless of the number of laps driven by each driver. However, each driver must complete at least 1 lap to be eligible for the full points associated with the finishing position of the vehicle. In the event of a complete mechanical failure (Ex: Blown engine) exceptions to award equal ”starter points” to all drivers may be made on a case by case basis by the Race Director.
